Awesome your 1/2 is up and coming!!! Have you decided on a race strategy/pace?

From Eric Day on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 10:58:30 from 200.52.199.20

April, yes, getting nervous now.

About the pace, I going to push hard on flats & downhills, and try to keep a decent pace in uphills. I'm aiming for the 4:40 min/km pace avg (7:30 min/mile). We shall see if we can sustain the speed throughout the race, if so, that means a 1:38 finish & super PR for me.

I so hope you can do it! I have 100% faith in you that you can!!!

Want to hear something funny? My kids school teaches Spanish and my kids have decided that our next trip HAS to be to Mexico so they can "talk Spanish." Well, I guess that is not all that funny. What is funny is that about all they can say after two years is HELLO and MY NAME IS and maybe a few numbers and colors. They have assured me not to worry about it, they will be able to speak to everyone for me and order our food and so on. KIDS. I informed them that a lot of people in Mexico speak English, but they do not believe me. My kids lead such a sheltered life...there trips to Southern Utah and Disneyland have not quite shown them the world.

I think there's more Spanish speakers in California than Mexico.

From Eric Day on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 17:23:15 from 200.52.199.20

Sorry Burt, in California, as in all southern states, they don't speak spanish, but SPANGLISH, very different and it take time to learn this new language.

Kelli, come to Guadalajara, full of great places to see & do.

Are there enough people for my kids to speak Spanish to?

Another funny story, we drove about 3 hours to Cedar City and we stopped at a McDonalds for my kids. There was this really nice group of ladies who needed a jump, but they did not speak English. So they were trying to tell us they needed a jump (and none of us speak Spanish), and my 6 year old said, "We are in MEXICO????" 3 hours gets us all the way to Mexico apparently.

Whenever we drive through now we tell our kids to wave good bye to Mexico. We have really confused them. So, I guess we need to make a real trip to Mexico so they can see how beautiful it is---definitely not the same as Southern Utah.

I am sure these stories are not all that funny, just to me. They are kind of "you had to be there moments" so I will just shut up with my kids stories already!

Okay ... so this has probably been said a million times, but I am too lazy to read everyone's comments: When is your half??? You are going to do awesome!!!

From Eric Day on Thu, Sep 03, 2009 at 10:52:39 from 200.77.36.183

Kelli, really don't know what a jump is. But I get your story, kids are great and love those types of comments. Sounds like when one is backing out from the garage to start a long trip and the kids will ask: are we there yet?

Teena, its this sunday !!! & Thanks !
