Oh dangit Eric welcome to the PF club, wish you did not have to join. Perhaps it is minor and you have caught it soon enough that you can head it off. Ice the tar out of it, do the stretch where you sit your leg over your lap and pull your toes up toward your shin 10 times, 3x a day. And tape it 24-7 for a few days. Put your inserts in! You could try taking a few days off but in my experience anything beyond that really doesn't help. I have to walk around all day anyway so either way I am not getting off of it. I do so hope that it goes away! Run on softer surfaces if at all possible. Hmmmm, other than that....wait it out! I am still waiting mine out but hey one of these days it is going to go away....

You can buy a sock that you wear overnight that keeps the pf stretched overnight. Google PF and sock and you might find it. You could probably make something yourself and save yourself the money if you know what it looks like.

You can also roll the bottom of your foot over a frozen paper cup filled with ice to get rid of the knots/stretch it and ice at the same time.

Hope you sort it soon.

This is just a quick thought so might be wrong but I'm wondering if you run your easy runs slightly too quickly? I doubt that would cause it, but maybe ease off a bit to let it heal? Could be worth checking your log to see if the pace has creeped up.

Don't really care for the club April...didn't want to join either. I will do the stretch you mention as much as possible. No softer surfaces available for me... but may thanks on the advise. Lets see how well & fast we heal.

Chris, you think my pace is too fast? Today's was a little bit faster than normal (I wanted to finish). I have some of the gel-bag you put in the freezer. I have been placing my foot on them till they run out of 'cold'...but the idea to freeze a bottle is very tempting.

Eric, Besides the things mentioned here the things that have helped me the most are:

1) night splint

2) lace my shoes so there is no lace over the top of my foot near the arch:

top of shoe x==xx bottom of shoe

(modified number 1: http://home.earthlink.net/~runfire/empirerunnersapparel/id20.html)

3) I pretty much only wear Birkenstocks (honestly, I think this is what has helped me the most)

Good luck.
