Nothing wrong with running a laid-back race! Sounds like you had fun and the wine was worth it! :)

only 2.5 hours of sleep before a race? You party animal you! haha. You get commando points just for running the race! I don't think I would be fully functional or have control of my motor skills without at least 4-5 hours!

Too little sleep + many wine glasses + excellent dinner party + great friends + race next morning = fun slow race !!

Way to enjoy a race!!! :)

From argentinerocket on Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 14:18:49 from 74.9.147.114

Darn it... I chose the wrong race to make our bet!

Pretty impressive time all things considered though, glad you had fun, all of DC did on Saturday when they watched me run with a silly headband! :)

What type of comments did you get from the people? Did the race have lots of spectators?

From ChrisM on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 08:28:05 from 130.88.123.4

Sounds fun, sometimes it's good to enjoy a race once in a while, maybe with more sleep before though!

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 15:43:58 from 71.219.76.64

Maybe wine dehydrates??? as long as you do not drink it while you run, all is well. Isn't there a race out there that has beer at the aide stations?

Nice job, I am glad you had fun! Fun is good!!

From argentinerocket on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 16:00:34 from 74.9.147.114

There were a lot of spectators by the finish line, but mostly I got looks from other runners just before the race started, as in "you look ridiculous, sister"

Wine (alcohol in general) dehydrates big time. I'm pretty sure I read something about a beer race...

You have the "Hashers" (the drinking club with a running problem), they do adventure-type runs where you have to find your way from one beer truck to the next, drinking and running. I really don't know how they do it (or why). Running is fun, drinking is fun, but combine them both and you get a disaster waiting to happen!

I can barely handle gatorade while running!!!

From Eric Day on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 18:47:01 from 189.192.150.180

I think I'll stick to gatowine. Maybe this could help get better times....LOL

From Kelli on Tue, Jun 16, 2009 at 20:23:09 from 71.219.76.64

Or gatobeer.

From kungfublonde on Fri, Jun 26, 2009 at 16:19:51 from 64.203.113.50

Eric, you should join Hash House Harriers with me and Mike. Your race prep is right up my alley :)

From Eric Day on Fri, Jun 26, 2009 at 16:51:56 from 200.77.42.213

Just as long it only gatobeer or gatowine ... if you guys think I'll do anything resembling what Mike just went through ... no way jose!
